Did you fill out the Opt Out form?
Did you make a copy? Do you know if they honored it?
Can you hold them responsible if they “lose” or sell your data?
Its not just about them selling a product and you buying it anymore.
Its about how much profit they can glean from that purchase. You dont even have to buy anything! They still get to use your data and not pay you for it.

Let’s make this really simple: You have a phone, and I want to tap it without your knowledge to find out what your buying habits are and sell the information to advertisers. That’s not legal, period.

Suppose you say, “OK, you can tap my phone.” You “opt in.” Does that make it legal?
