OK, I know my next post was supposed to be a continuation of my Shimel's theory of security company relativity but I have to do this first. Sorry, you will have to wait for part 2 of the theory tomorrow. I did want to comment on InfoSec Events post about "Battle of the Booth Babes". Even though I know the author of the blog, I feel compelled to correct some misconceptions. Lets not ever, ever, ever mistake a female employee of a company exhibiting at a conference show with being a booth babe. Generally speaking a booth babe is someone who is hired specfically to provide "eye candy" at a booth and is not a regular employee of a company. They don't know the products or anything, they are there to draw you in. Models for hire for these events, usually wearing costumes are what we mean by booth babes (and by the way I have seen male booth babes too).
There are pleny of smart, capable, talented woman who work the booths of their companies, the same way any male employee would. Grouping them in the category of a booth babe is an insult to them, to woman everywhere and the companies they work for! If you can't tell the difference between a real booth babe and a regular female worker of an exhibitor I think calls into question your own outlook and views of woman in general.
The pictures this blog has up are a great examples. Clearly the girls in the red race car outfits are hired help for the show. I would say all of the other photos are of legitimate woman working in their company's booth. As a matter of fact if you allow yourself to get over your own prejudice about woman, you may even find that they can teach you a thing or two about security. Case in point, this picture from the blog article. For your information, this is a picture of Sonya Caprio, StillSecure director of public relations and marketing! She has worked with me at StillSecure for 4 and half years and probably knows more about the security industry and security technologies than the person who wrote the article. Also, take a look at the t-shirt, the caption reads "not just a pretty face". All of our employees working the StillSecure booth wore these t-shirts (guys and girls alike). It is a direct jab at booth babes, that StillSecure doesn't do booth babes and pretty faces. Is the fact that Sonya is pretty mean she is sentenced to be nothing but a booth babe? I suggest you take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself if you think woman can do anything more than just be "another pretty face". The answer might surprise you.

If you can't tell a booth babe from a real girl, you got problems!
