A weekend of Windows Mobile fun
2008-03-09 20:56:28 by HASH0x8b41ca8 in StillSecure, After All These Years

I haven't blogged all weekend because the time I would normally put into blogging was spent playing with my cell phone.  As I have written before, I have been using an ATT 8525 for about a year now.  The 8525 is actually the HTC Hermes. I upgraded a while back to Windows Mobile 6 Professional and love the phone. I had paid for a Today shell by a company called SPD and thought that was cool.  But I recently became aware that those wizards at the XDA developers forum had done some work with the new HTC software designed for their iPhone like device called the Touch. Checking that out led me to a product from one of the XDA guys called called the HTC Home Customizer by Emu Software.

The HHC let me add weather updates and a bunch of other cool stuff to customize the look and feel of my phone.  Much more than the commercial product I paid 25 dollars for.

Than I found out this let me download a new audio player by HTC which is integrated into the Today plug in.  Also a new photo album viewer that is very iPhone like and very cool. A new Contact Manager that lets me flick through my addresses. A new task manager and a new communications manager. Finally a streaming media player to let me play mobile YouTube files.  Not that I ever played YouTube on my phone with the 3G and beyond connectivity, they play pretty well.

Of course all of this didn't install smooth as silk, it took some tweaking on my part. So for about 4 to 6 hours worth of playing, I have a totally retooled phone that I am liking more than every.  I already have full Mobile Office, Google Maps, MS Live Search, Exchange direct push to my pocket mobile plus Yahoo Go an Gmail.  Camera, MP3 and video too!

Like the McDonalds commercial says, "I'm lovin' it!
