Green IT and Virtualization Management One Service Providers Tale
2008-05-07 13:40:46 by Julia Lim in ScienceLogic

Here’s another interesting fact we found out at Interop. Opus Interactive’s data center is 100% wind-powered. How many of you can say that? It’s just a part of their green initiative – which also includes using blade servers to cut down on power consumption, virtualization technologies and our very own EM7 Meta-Appliances.

They’re the first (and only) customers to tell us that EM7 is “green”; because the product displaces several point solutions they were using previously, Opus is able to cut down on the number of machines they need to deploy just to manage their service provider infrastructure. We love it!

Opus is a canny customer – using virtualization technologies not only for a green IT solution but also to provide new Virtual Dedicated Servers that are cost-effective and open up possibilities for a whole new set of customers. And of course, they’re using EM7 to monitor their virtualization infrastructure – both physical and virtual hosts –and take advantage of the built-in reporting to see how everything is performing, if they need to move anything around and to plan for future capacity needs.

Check out the video of Dave having a very good time interviewing Brady Wilson, Director of Data Center Operations for Opus Interactive.
